GARY, Ind. —- The Trinity International University Trojan volleyball team took on the Indiana University Northwest Redhawks on Thursday night in the final regular season match of the 2019 season. With seeding for next week's Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Tournament still in play the Trojans entered the match with high hopes of securing a higher seed.

TIU struggled offensively, committing 14 attack errors as the Redhawks swept the Trojans 25-20, 25-14, 25-20. The Redhawks would dish out nine service aces and block seven TIU shots as the Trojans struggled to find consistency on the night.

Despite the loss, senior Penina Sao reached a major career milestone, notching her 2,000th career dig on defense as she totaled 11 on the night. On offense, Kierra Koepke led the way with nine kills, while Sara Andric recorded eight. Skyler Muramoto totaled 16 assists in the loss, while Matty Hawkins blocked three solo shots.

With the regular season in the books, the Trojans clinch the four-seed in the CCAC Tournament. TIU will host the fifth-seeded St. Francis Fighting Saints in the opening round on Tuesday, November 12 at Van Dixhorn Arena. Opening serve is set for 7:00PM.
