DEERFIELD, Ill. - In their final game of the 2018-19 regular season the Trojans playoff hopes came down to one game, and despite their late rally down the stretch in the second half the Trojans fell short to the Tigers, suffering a 93-84 loss to Olivet Nazarene on Senior Day.
On a night to honor the 2019 Senior Class, Seniors
Greg Carlyle,
Jeremy Carlyle, Donald Watkins Jr., and
Ajibola Oke-Diran played their final game inside the Van Dixhorn Arena, capping off very successful careers for all four Trojans.
The Trojans opened the game struggling to find their groove offensively. Olivet, the CCAC Conference Champions came out of the gates quickly and jumped out to an early 53-35 at the halftime break.
Shooting just 40% from the field the Trojans opened the second half with a quick 15-4 run to jump right back into the game. TIU turned to the Senior leadership of J.Carlyle and G. Carlyle to bring the Trojans back and they did just that.
G. Carlyle fired off 22 points in the final 20 minutes to give the Trojans a shot down the stretch. A fast break bucket from G. Carlyle pulled the Trojans within four points with 10:40 to, but that was the closest the Trojans would get.
ONU knocked down a few big buckets and free throws in the dying moments to seal the victory late.
The Trojans will now look to the upcoming offseason with hopes to bounce back with a successful 2019-20 season this upcoming fall.
