CLERMONT, Fla. - Looking to win their second consecutive game the TIU Softball team pur forth another solid performance, cruising to an 8-3 win over Cornerstone University on Tuesday afternoon.
The Lady Trojans opened the game with a pair of runs in the third inning, with
Lauren Neveau getting TIU on the board with an RBI single, followed by an Eagle error that put TIU up 2-0.
After a pair of scoreless innings the Trojan offense came to life in the 5th inning, tallying 5 more runs to take a commanding 7-0 lead.
Brooke Heraty,
Sara Grygus, and
Madison Lenzke all drove in runs in the 5th inning for TIU to help seal another victory.
The Eagles battled back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the 5th inning, but
Grace Magnuson continued her strong performances inside the circle, ending the rally and earning her second win of the season. The Junior fired 6 solid innings, allowing two runs on 8 hits.
Heraty and
Hannah Gentry both finished the afternoon with multi-hit performances, as Gentry registered a team high 3 hits.
The Trojans are back in action tomorrow morning when they take on Carlow University and the University of Northwestern Ohio.
