CLERMONT, Fla. - Looking to add another win to their resume the Lady Trojans found themselves in a battle in late innings, but an RBI single in the top of the 7th from Freshman
Britney Knox sealed another victory for the Lady Trojans, defeating the Celtics 2-1 on Wednesday morning.
The Celtics got out to an early lead, scoring the games opening run in the bottom of the first inning to take a 1-0 advantage.
After struggling to get anything going offensively, it was
Tenley Bozzi who broke through for TIU, driving in the Trojans first run to even the game 1-1.
With both sides struggling down the stretch it was not until the 7th inning that the Trojans found some offense, and it was Knox who helped the Trojans earn another win.
After a walk to
Madison Lenzke to open the inning a sac bunt from Haley Kuriger moved Lenzke to second which set up Knox with the game on the line. The Freshman drove a single right up the middle to give the Trojans a lead they would not relinquish.
Freshman
Hannah Gentry was exceptional in the circle yet again, throwing a complete game, allowing just three hits and no earned runs over 7 innings.
The Lady Trojans are back in action tomorrow for their final two Spring Break games, as they take on Reinhardt University and (RV) Bellevue University.
