WHEELING, Ill. - Looking to snap their season long six game losing streak the TIU Softball team did just that on Tuesday, sweeping CCAC rival Trinity Christian, defeating the Trolls 11-7, and 2-1 at Heritage Park.

The Trojans opened the day with a back and forth first game, taking down the Trolls 11-7. 

Trailing 2-1 after heading into the Top of the 3rd Inning, the Trojan offense that had been silent the last few game, came to life in big part to Sara Grygus and Hannah Gentry. Both players had multi hit, and multi RBI performances in the victory.

Grygus gave the Trojans a lead they would not relinquish in the 5th, driving a two RBI single up the middle to all but hand the Trojans an opening game victory.

In their second game of the day the Trojans once again closed out a second straight solid performance, this time walking off in the bottom of the 7th Inning.

With the Trojans trailing 1-0 heading into the final inning the Trojan offense rose to the occasion. Tenley Bozzi led the inning off with a triple to the left field wall, eventually followed up by an RBI single from Jessica Vroman to tie the game.

After a Vroman steal of second base, and a wild pitch, the Trojans were primed to score the game winning run, and Madison Lenzke was up for the challenge. The Freshman laced a single in the right center field gap to hand the Trojans the victory, their first DH sweep of the season.

Gentry was outstanding in the circle for TIU, throwing a complete game and allowing just the one run in the victory.

TIU is back in action this Friday when take on Robert Morris University in a CCAC DH.
