CROWN POINT, Ind. - Looking to build off of their post season success from 2018 the TIU Softball team earned a hard fought CCAC Tournament split, losing to Olivet Nazarene before defeating the St. Ambrose Bee's in an elimination game on Saturday evening.

In the opening game of the tournament the Trojans ran into a hot hitting Olivet Nazarene team who belted 21 hits for 17 runs in a 17-2 defeat.

With their season on the line the Trojans found themselves in an elimination game against St. Ambrose University. After suffering a pair of losses to SAU earlier in the season the Trojans turned things around after closing out a late inning 3-2 victory.

It was a back and forth opening few innings with each team registering a run inside of the first three innings.With the game deadlocked after 5 innings TIU got clutch late hitting from Taylor Carli and Brooke Heraty who each drove in a run in 6th and 7th to take a 3-1 lead.

The Bee's would answer with a run of their own in the bottom half of the 7th, but the lockdown pitching of all time wins leader Taylor Carli closed out the late inning victory, keeping the Trojans season alive.

TIU will now turn their attention to another elimination game, taking on the St. Francis Saints at 3 PM on Sunday afternoon.
