The Trinity International University women's volleyball team dropped their first conference game of the 2019 season Thursday night at Van Dixhorn Arena to rival Trinity Christian College in four sets, 20-25, 25-21, 23-25, 12-25.
The Lady Trojans (4-5) fought hard on defense behind 24 total digs by Brianna Torres and 19 by Deb Kovalczuk, but were ultimately overwhelmed by the Troll's (3-5) offensive attack.
While TIU was able to capitalize on a number of opposing service errors, the Trojan's attack percentage of .144 was not enough to push past Trinity Christian's strong defense.
Junior Matty Hawkins tallied 11 kills in the match, while Torres notched nine in her attack.
The Trojans begin a two-game road trip starting on Tuesday, September 10 as they visit the University of St. Francis at 7:00 PM. TIU will then take on Robert Morris University in Arlington Heights on Thursday, September 12 at 7:00 PM.
