The Trinity International University football team struggled to find offensive consistency as they dropped their first game of the season to the University of St. Thomas Tommies (1-0) in St. Paul, Minnesota on Saturday afternoon, 69-3.
The Tommies jumped out of the gates early with five touchdowns in the first quarter, three coming from the arm of quarterback Tommy Dolan. A stellar St. Thomas defense prevented the Trojans (1-1) from finding solid footing to establish and offensive attack as TIU committed five turnovers in the loss.
Junior kicker Carter Andrade was responsible for the Trojan's only score, a 39 yard field goal in the fourth quarter. Through the air, junior quarterback Nolan Brammer was 20-36 for 215 yards and two interceptions. Wide receiver Jimmy Campbell caught six passes for a total of 96 yards, while on defense Lorenzano Blakeney tallied ten total tackles on defense.
The Trojans return home on Saturday, September 14 as they host the University of St. Francis Fightin' Saints in their home and conference opener at 1:00 PM at Leslie Frazier Field.
