BANNOCKBURN, Ill. --- The Trinity International University men's basketball team hosted the Holy Cross Saints on Wednesday night in their final home game of the 2019-2020 season. Trinity would be graduating five seniors from this season as they were honored prior to the start of the game.Â
The Trojans would start off with an eight point lead in the opening minutes, but the momentum would change as the 11th ranked Saints would come back and take a dominant lead and hold the Trojans for a scoreless stretch of time. Holy Cross' speed would impact the game handedly as transition would cause the Trojans to miss out on many defense stops. The first half would go in favor of the Saints, 42-26.Â
The second half would see more Trojan points, as Nate Schmidt and Thadeous Johnson would both have 15 points on the night as well as Jeremy Bonifacio would have 11 for the blue and white. Although the Trojans struggled to find the net, they still shot over 40% in each category, but the Saints offense would shoot from at least 60% in each category for the game to give them the 88-66 win over the Trojans.
The Trojans head out to challenge Calumet St. Joseph in Whiting, Indiana on Saturday in hopes to notch one more win in their record. Tip-off is set for 3:00PM.Â
