Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

TIU drops road game at Saint Ambrose, 60-51

DAVENPORT, Iowa --- The TIU women's basketball team returned to action in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play on Wednesday night as they visited the Fighting Bees of Saint Ambrose University at Lee Lohman Arena. Coming off a difficult loss at St. Francis (IL) last weekend, the Trojans looked for a much needed bounce back to snap their two-game losing streak.

Trinity began the game with an impressive first quarter, shooting 47% from the floor with four made three-point baskets and a pair of Alina Jahnke blocks. Being able to play solid defense with limited first half turnovers allowed the Trojans to lead for a majority of the first half despite a late SAU push in the second quarter. TIU entered the halftime break tied with the Bees at 29 all.

Saint Ambrose's offense came to life in the third quarter as Trinity struggled to shoot the ball, giving the Bees the opportunity to jump ahead four points. In the fourth, TIU would commit seven turnovers and draw nine fouls, giving SAU ample opportunities at the free throw line to pull ahead. Despite a strong first of half of play, the Trojans would drop their matchup with Saint Ambrose by a final score of 60-51.

Da'Naria Washington led the night for the Trojans with a team-high 14 points in the loss, as Jahnke posted seven rebounds, five assists, and three blocks. Aniyjha Graves notched nine points, while Taylor Hibicke posted seven points in the loss.
