BANNOCKBURN, ILL --- Last weekend the Trojans competed in their final home match of 2021 against the Redhawks of Indiana University Northwest. Despite keeping a close scoreline, Trinity was unable to close the gap and fell to IU Northwest 41-48.

After an early layup by the Redhawks, the Trojans responded with a 9-2 run. IU Northwest then countered with a run of their own, ending the first quarter ahead of Trinity 10-9. The second quarter saw IU Northwest widen their lead as Trinity struggled to maintain control in the paint, losing the battle for rebounds 12-18.

The Trojans gained a bit of momentum in the third quarter, shooting 41% and cutting the Redhawks lead to eight points after a 3-8 run in the final four minutes of the period. Carly Scheblo started the fourth quarter strong for Trinity with a three-pointer in the first minute of play. With under three minutes to go, Trinity brought the score within five points after a free throw by Da'Naria Washington but unfortunately it wouldn't be enough to rally the team. 

The Trojans ultimately fell to the Redhawks 41-48 despite a higher 3PT percentage and a perfect afternoon from the free throw line.

• After Saturday's match, Trinity's lead on the all-time series falls to a one game at 5-4
• Taylor Hibicke broke 100 career rebounds after adding five against the Redhawks
• Sophomore Daniela Lopez gave her 100th assist and is one point away from 200 career points

The Trojans(5-7) travel to Arizona after the Christmas holiday as they visit Arizona Christian University in non-conference play. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00pm MST (4:00pm CT) and the game will be streamed LIVE on GSAC Sports Network.
