BANNOCKBURN, Ill. --- The TIU women's volleyball team returned to the floor on Monday night after a two week hiatus as they hosted the LIncoln Lynx at Van Dixhorn Arena in their 2020-21 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) opener. After going 1-2 in the Judson/TIU Crossover in late January, the Trojans looked to even their record and start 1-0 in league play.

TIU and Lincoln went back and forth in the opening set before the Trojans closed the opening frame on an 8-3 run to claim the first set 25-20. Trinity started hot out of the gate in the second frame, opening up an early 9-3 lead, aided by three total service aces by Anna Skrzypchak and Brianna Torres. TIU capitalized off of 24 Lynx errors throughout the night and defended the net well with five blocks. After securing the second set by a score of 25-18, the Trojans continued to dominate off Lincoln's attacking errors. While the Lynx were able to crawl out of a slow start in the third set, TIU quickly recovered and rolled down the stretch to win the final frame 25-12, and win the match 3-0.

Torres led the Trojans with ten kills, 17 digs and three service aces, while Jaylyn Freeman also notched 17 digs in the win. Skrzypchak recorded 30 assists and two block assists, and Deborah Kovalczuk notched TIU's lone solo block of the match.

Additional Match Notes

• With tonight's win, Trinity improves to 4-0 all-time against Lincoln.

• TIU is 5-5 in their last ten CCAC openers, including 4-1 in their previous five.

• TIU's 2-2 start through their first four matches is their best start since starting the 2018 season 3-1.

• The Trojans recorded 59 digs in the win compared to Lincoln's 51.

• Trinity committed a season-low 11 attack errors in the win over the Lynx.
