WHITING, Ind.. --- The TIU women's volleyball team hit the road on Tuesday night as they visited the Crimson Wave of Calumet College of St. Joseph is in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play. Coming off a sweep of Roosevelt last weekend at home, the Trojans looked to tune their skills as they began the final week of the regular season.
Like their previous meeting on March 2, it would be all TIU as the Trojans jumped out to an early lead in the opening set thanks to a 5-0 capped by an Anna Skrzypchak service ace. Trinity would dominate nearly every facet of the match from the service line, to defense at the net, and while on the attack.
After taking the first set 25-14, TIU rolled through the second after scoring seven of the first eight points. Thanks to 12 service aces and several CCSJ receiving errors wrapped up the second frame in style with a 25-122 victory.
Calumet St. Joseph would show some fight in the third set, but Trinity's ability to put together strong scoring rallies would be too much. Despite the Crimson Wave pulling within one point late, Skrzypchak and Matty Hawkins put the match away with a pair of kills to cap the night to take the final set 25-22, and the match in a 3-0 sweep.
Hawkins would lead TIU with 11 kills in the victory with Brianna Torres notching seven with four service aces. Skrzypchak recorded 17 assists while Madison Feagans assisted on ten points. Defensively, Torres led Trinity with 13 digs and Madeline Trippett notched nine.
