MARION, Ind. --- The Trinity International men's soccer team took the field against the Indiana Wesleyan University Wildcats on a humid Wednesday night in central Indiana. Coming off a tough 3-0 loss to open the season last week at Grace, the Trojans looked to bounce back with a stronger performance against another high quality opponent.
IWU would crack the scoreboard first in the 18th minute on a goal by Philipp Basara. The Trojan had a key opportunity to respond in the 35th minute after Josiah Joseph drew an outside foul, setting up a free kick for Jonny Mueller. Mueller would drill the kick into the net, but the goal would be waved off due to a TIU foul, allowing the Wildcats to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.
While Trinity improved greatly in their attack from last week's opener, Indiana Wesleyan continued to press the Trojan defense, and broke through again in the 54th minute on a goal by Yuto Nakamae. IWU would add a third and final score to the ledger 16 minutes later in the 70th minute, as Winter Casseus scored fresh off the bench. Mueller would get another shot to put the blue and white on the board in the 84th on a penalty kick, but saw his shot be saved by Wildcat keeper Aaron Carr, sealing the 3-0 loss for the Trojans.
