BANNOCKBURN, Ill. --- The Trinity International men's soccer team returned home to Schartner Field on Saturday afternoon as they hosted the Trinity Christian College Trolls in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play. In the only game in TIU athletics that features a travelling trophy in a rivalry game, the Trojans were eager to end their recent string of difficult play and reclaim the Trinity Shield for their opponents.
TIU's offense would play their best first half of the season, totalling ten shot attempts in the first 45 minutes of play, putting the Trolls on defense early. The Trojans broke through in the 29th minute as Trenton Garside found Zach Mawdsley for the first score of the match and a 1-0 TIU lead.
Trinity Christian's offense came alive however in the second half, as Jorge Alencar tied the match at one goal a piece in the 51st minute. The Trolls would strike again just seven minutes later as Alec Belcastro gave TCC a 2-1 lead in the 58th. Despite a late push by the Trojans, TIU would be unable to even the score in the final minutes, dropping the match by one goal to their conference rivals.
