Trojans defeated by Fighting Saints

JOLIET, Ill. --- Yesterday afternoon the Trojans hit the road for their first visiting conference match-up of the year against the Fighting Saints of the University of St. Francis. Facing the perennial conference top-three powerhouse proved to be too much for TIU as they fell 41-101.

Junior transfer Jakyah Amous led the Trojan offense as she posted 14 points and was near perfect on all free throw attempts, while snatching four rebounds beneath the basket to put up her best performance of the young season. Following close behind, senior shooting guard Amber Reynolds and returning all-freshman team member of last season Da'Naria Washington each bagged nine points a piece.

Under the baskets, senior center Breleigh Gula had a career-tying performance of eight rebounds to lead the Trojans defensive efforts, while Audree Peck accompanied her with six of her own.

A highlight on the box score, the Trojans shot 75% from the charity line, their highest of the season so far while posting their second highest number of blocked shots as they average 3.4 per outing.

Trinity (1-4) looks to bounce back next weekend after a midweek break as they're on the road again for another CCAC tip-off, this time against the Lakers of Roosevelt University. The starting whistle blows at 1:00pm at the Goodman Center in Chicago, Illinois.
