Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

TIU defeated by IU Northwest in weekend clash

GARY, Ind. --- Last night the Trojans took to the road for their first game in over two weeks as they resumed conference play against the Redhawks of IU Northwest. Despite a tightly contested first half, the Trojans faltered in the second stanza and fell 66-75.

Throughout the first twenty minutes of play, the score equalized on six different occasions with Trinity taking a slight one-point edge into the break. Sophomore guard Kyonte Thomas led the way with eight points and four rebounds with fellow guard Xavier Cooper not far behind contributing six on the score sheet and another four under the boards. It was graduate Brandon Lawani who led the Trojans board security though with five rebounds in the half. Out possessing the Redhawks, the Trojans grabbed six steals and forced ten turnovers before the halftime break.

In the second stanza, the Redhawks turned up their offensive pressure while holding back Trinity's efforts. Despite the Trojans posting better shooting percentages in the latter frame, they struggled to control the boards and gave up more turnovers than they created. Seven Trojans entered the scoreboard with Cooper and Thomas again leading the way with eight and seven points respectively.

At the final whistle, each Trojan who entered the game added at least one basket and rebound to the result but unfortunately it wouldn't be enough to take the victory. Trinity returns to the court again on Tuesday, December 20th as they tip-off at home against the Fighting Bees of Saint Ambrose University at 1:00pm.
