Trojans defeated by Saints in final minutes

NOTRE DAME, IND. --- Earlier this afternoon the Trojans hit the road for their final game of the regular season against the Fighting Saints of Holy Cross College.

In the first five minutes, the Fighting Saints went up 10-4 before Trinity called a time out to regroup. Out of the short break the Trojans countered with a jump shot by Sterling Brown and a dunk by Kyonte Thomas. In a span of seven minutes, Diamond Presniakovas dropped nine points against the Saints five and closed the scoreline to 17-20, with the Saints leading. Before the whistle at halftime, both teams scored another ten points and finished the half 27-30.

Three minutes into the second half, Trinity tied the score 32-32 before swapping baskets again with the Saints. With less than ten minutes remaining, the Trojans finally retook the lead after a 3-pointer by Jack Kahoun. For the next five minutes, the Trojans and Saints traded the lead before a tied score again at 54-54 with three minutes left in the game.

Holy Cross broke the tie with a 3-pointer and Trinity answered with a jump shot by Diamond Presniakovas. With ten seconds left on the clock, Trinity fouled the Saints and they sank the following free throws to secure the victory, 59-56.

Unfortunately, the Trojans will not qualify for postseason play and will end their season with an 13-17 overall record and 9-13 record within the CCAC.

  • Tonight's matchup was the 20th all-time meeting between Trinity International and Holy Cross. The result brings the Trojans to 13-17 overall and 9-13 in the CCAC
