KISSIMMEE, Fla. --- The Trojans continued their Spring Games tournament campaign with two games last Saturday afternoon and a single game earlier today after having canceled one due to weather. On Saturday afternoon the Trojans faced the Racers of the University of Northwestern Ohio and the Gyrenes of Ave Maria University; this afternoon they saw the Knights of Marian University (Ind.) across the plate.
Â
Saturday March 5th
Game One (University of Northwestern Ohio):
From the start, Trinity struggled as they allowed two runs in the first inning and then failed to advance to first on their first six at bats. At the bottom of the fourth, the Racers led 4-0 as Paige Hintz reached first by error then made it to third after two wild pitches. Unfortunately, the Trojans couldn't bring her all the way home.
The Racers would go on to score four more runs and defeat the Trojans 8-0.

Game Two (Ave Maria University):
The first two innings of the second game were quiet as both teams failed to create any sustainable offense, each having less than five at bats each inning. In the bottom of the third, the Gyrenes started to gain momentum after hitting a double followed by a sacrifice bunt. The Trojans took the plate and lead off batter Gina Loy doubled to left field. Shortly after, Madison Lenzke hit another double and sent Loy back to home plate. Freshman Josie Nelson singles and advances Lenzke to third, but the Trojans wouldn't be able to bring her in before the inning's end.
At the top of the sixth, Trinity was behind 1-7 as they tried to build offensive pressure after a couple of walks and a single by Waverly Miller but the Gyrene defense held strong. Ave Maria scored two more runs in the sixth inning and ended the game by mercy rule, 1-9.

Tuesday March 8th
Game One (Marian University):
Trinity's defense started the game strong, making catches on the first two batters' fly balls before a homerun earned two runs for the Knights. Bottom of the second, Gina Loy stepped up to the plate for the Trojans and singled, followed by another single by Madison Lenzke. A few plays later Trinity had three runners on base with one out, looking for a big play that unfortunately wouldn't come.
Marian hit another home run in the third inning to increase their lead to 4-0. In a late defensive rally, Madison Lenzke made a double play in the bottom of the sixth after fielding a ground ball, tagging the runner then making the forced stop at third base.
At the top of the seventh inning, the Knights still led 4-0 before hitting another home run and scoring two more. Trinity had one last shot at the plate before the game ended but couldn't create any offense to counter. Marian University defeated Trinity 6-0 after seven innings.
