Trinity sweeps non-conference doubleheader

WHEELING, Ill. --- The Trojans clinched yesterday's double header, defeating the Maranatha Baptist Sabercats 9-2 and 9-8 at Wheeling Park District. 
 
Game One: TIU 9, Maranatha 2
In the first victory of the day, the Trojans took an early lead with Blake Lazaris and Michael Zelko collecting RBI's in the first inning. Their offense continued to prove themselves, collecting another run in the second inning and two more in the fourth inning. 

The Trojan's sealed the game with four runs in the sixth inning off of RBI's from Jose Matos, Blake Lazaris, Jackson Schutzenhofer, and Ridley Edington

Ethan Oskroba captured his first career start on the mound, throwing two scoreless innings in the first and second, before allowing one run in the third. He went on to throw three more scoreless innings, before Ridley Edington came in to relieve in the seventh. 

The Sabercats collected their second and final run of the game with an RBI in the seventh, locking in the Trojans win at 9-2. 

Game Two:
TIU 9, Maranatha 8
In the second game Aaron Malone collected his first career start on the mound before appearances from John Wagner, Blake Bruce, and Joe Placencia sealed the win for the Trojan's. 

The Sabercats saw their first lead of the day, going into the bottom of the fifth inning 5-3. 

Samuel Edington started the Trojan comeback in the bottom of the fifth with a sacrifice RBI. Seth Lawallen made it across the plate after a passed ball, before a double RBI from Ridley Edington and a single RBI from Luis Henriquez brought the Trojans to a 6-5 lead at the end of the fifth inning. 

The Sabercats fought back in the sixth with three runs to tie the score 8-8. 

The Trojan's finalized their 12th win of the season off an RBI by Ridley Edington, following a scoreless inning in the 7th by Joe Placencia.

The Trojan's look to continue their success on the field, traveling to Olivet Nazarene University for a doubleheader at 1:00 and 3:45pm later today.
