Garside nets hat trick in 4-1 victory over Eagles

VERONA, Wisc. —Last night the Trojans traveled north for their first road trip of the season to face off against the Eagles of Edgewood College. Looking to bounce back from a tough loss on opening weekend, the Trojans flipped the script completely by defeating the Eagles 4-1.

Trinity notched the first shot on goal less than a minute into the game, the Edgewood keeper's first try of the game. It would be the Eagles who found the back of the net first roughly ten minutes later as they were able to convert from a corner kick.

TIU answered quickly, tying the game around the 18th minute mark after Zachary Mawdsley countered from a stoppage in play due to a foul. The score wouldn't hold for much longer though, as TK Garside buried his first goal of the evening to give the Trojans a 2-1 lead just 22 minutes into the game. Entering half with the one goal lead, Trinity took 10 shots and took six opportunities from the corner flag while holding Edgewood to two shots and two corner kicks.

Less than ten minutes into the second half, Garside struck again for his second goal, with the assist given to defender Jesus Ramos. A foul called on the Eagles led to another goal scoring opportunity and Garside once again cashed in, scoring his third goal to complete the hat trick and give the Trojans a 4-1 that would ultimately hold until the final whistle.

In the second half, the Trojans notched another ten shots and added two more corner kicks. Sophomore goalkeeper, Armin Mahmutovic had a rather quiet night in the net, facing just six shots in 90 minutes.
