Jesse Katz is in his third season with the Trinity Baseball program in 2017-18 as an assistant coach, responsible for working with the TIU pitching staff.
In his first season with the program, Katz led a pitching staff that improved in every major statistical category. Most notably, the program improved from 9 wins in 2015, to 23 wins this past year. He was also pivotal in the development of All-CCAC First Team selection and NCCAA All-North Central Region pitcher, A.J. Bruner. Katz also works as the program's Recruiting Coordinator, where he brought in a recruiting class of 13 students that spanned six states and two countries.
Katz played three seasons at Bemidji State (Minn.) University, making 24 career appearances on the mound. A two-time NSIC Academic All-Conference member, Katz was a member of the 2013 squad that finished as the NSIC Tournament runners-up.Â
A native of Deerfield, Ill., Katz has experience working with pitchers, as a coach for the Northern Knights Elite travel program sicne 2011, and as a pitching and hitting instructor at Players Edge Baseball Academy in Mundelein, Ill.
Katz graduated cum laude from Bemidji State, with a BA in Sport Management, and won the 2014-15 Outstanding Sport Management Major Award. As part of his curriculum, Katz interned as a scout for the Texas Rangers in 2014. Currently, he is also the general manager of the Northern Knights collegiate team of the Chicago Metro League.
