Chris Bonta is entering his first season with the Trinity International University football team and his 11th season coaching football. Coach Bonta will serve as the Defensive Coordinator and LB coach.

Prior to Trinity, Coach Bonta was the Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator at Vista High School (CA). The Panther defense was instrumental in leading Vista HS to a much improved 7-5 record, their first winning season in over 10 years.

Coach Bonta has been blessed with some amazing coaching experiences, most notably working as the Defensive Coordinator and LB coach with San Diego Stars and Stripes. Stars and Stripes is an organization that uses football to build relationships with players and coaches in other countries. This relationship led to an opportunity to coach a team in Tijuana, Mexico in 2018. Coach Bonta served as the Defensive Coordinator for the Tecos FC helping guide them to an undefeated championship season and the #1 ranked defense in Mexico.Â

Coach Bonta earned his Master’s in Educational Leadership in 2016 from National University and his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in 2009 from California State University, San Marcos. He has been married to his beautiful wife Kimberly for 20 years, and has three wonderful children: Victoria (19), Christopher (17) and Jeremiah (14).
