Dwayne Taylor, Jr. is in his second season as an assistant with the Trinity International program in 2017, working as the Trojans' secondary coach and recruiting coordinator. Taylor previously spent time as a head coach at the high school level throughout Mississippi and Louisiana.
In his first season at Trinity, Taylor worked with a secondary unit that included NCCAA All-American and All-MSFAÂ Midwest League cornerback Jarell Carter, whose senior campaign earned him a spot at rookie mini-camp with the Chicago Bears. As the team's recruiting coordinator, Taylor also brought in a number of new Trojans who made an immediate impact both on the practice field and on Saturday afternoons.
Taylor joins the Trojan coaching staff after working as the Defensive Coordinator at Wilkinson County HS in Woodville, Miss. There, Taylor led a defense that saw a 55% decrease in points per possession upon his arrival. Wilkinson County also earned an MHSAA state playoff berth, falling to eventual state champion Collins HS in the third round. Â
In 2014, Taylor was named Head Coach at Delta Charter School in Ferriday, La. Taylor was responsible for preparing a first-time football program for the school, and in his first year, Delta Charter went 4-4 with only 8th 9th and 10th graders competing at the varsity level.Â
Coach Taylor is a graduate of Alcorn State University in Alcorn, Miss., where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation. Taylor played safety and was a 4 year letterman for the Braves, and was named special teams captain his senior year.  As a two-year starter in the secondary, Taylor participated in game planning with coaches, as well as the breaking down film of the previous game with coaches.Â
Taylor is a native of New Orleans, La., where he attended McDonogh 35Â HS during his prep years.
