Keith Woodson joined the TIU football staff in the spring of 2020 as the defensive backs coach.
In his first year with the Trojans, Woodson helped coach a determined group of defensive backs, led by Lorente Blakeney, who ranked in the top ten in the conference in tackles with honorable mention honors from the MSFA-Midwest League.
A native of Evanston, Illinois, Woodson redshirted his freshman season of college at the University of St. Francis (IN) before transferring to Lakeland University at the NCAA Division III level. While at Lakeland, Keith was a four-year starter and two-time captain for the Muskies, and earned first team All-NACC conference honors, as well as freshman of the year. Woodson is currently in the Lakeland record book with 14 career interceptions. He graduated from Lakeland in 2012.
After his college career, Keith played football in Serbia for one year before returning home to play three seasons of arena football. Woodson most recently coached defensive backs at North Niles High School, as well as Evanston High School. While at Evanston, he helped build a defense made of four sophomore starters that were offensive only players, into a solid unit. Three of the four players would go on to earn college scholarships to play beyond high school.Â
Keith is married to his high school sweetheart, and has a one year old son named Kayden.
