Coach Poole

Zackery Poole

Zackery Poole joined the TIU football staff in September of 2020 as coach of the wide receivers. Poole joined the Trojan staff after most recently serving as the assistant offensive coordinator at Deerfield Beach High School in Florida.

In his first season with the Trojans in the COVID-19 shortened and postponed season of 2020, Poole worked with a solid group of receivers, including first team all-conference pass catcher Gino Mastandrea, who led the MSFA-Midwest League in receiving yards (805) and yards per catch (8.0), and third in receiving touchdowns (6). Poole also coached second team all-conference wide out Deon Cook, who recorded 528 receiving yards with four touchdowns in his freshman season.

A native of Pompano Beach, Florida, Zackery played quarterback for one season at NCAA Division II Carson-Newman University, before transferring to NAIA Union College. After his playing career, he worked for four years as a student assistant/graduate assistant for the Catamount football program at Western Carolina University before graduating in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a minor in child psychology.

After graduation, Poole was the assistant offensive coordinator at Currituck High School in North Carolina and later the quarterbacks coach at NCAA Division II Elizabeth City State University, where he coached future Indoor Football League Most Valuable Player Daquan Neal.

Poole currently resides in Waukegan, Illinois.
