Collin Christiansen, along with his father Dave, will lead the Trinity cross country programs for his first season in 2016.
Christensen, a former runner at Wheaton College, spent last season as an assistant coach for Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (Calif.), after three years as an assistant with the Biola (Calif.) men's and women's cross country teams, which have combined for seven appearances at the NAIA Championships over the past five seasons.
"Dave and I are beyond excited to become a part of Trinity International," said Collin. "Throughout my time as an athlete and a coach, God placed me under the tutelage of God-fearing coaches with profound integrity; they invested in me constantly and challenged me to serve the Lord and my team through athletics. Because He so richly blessed me in this way, I aspire to be the same kind of fork in the road for the young men and women of TIU, always striving towards life in Christ and building a team culture where we place the needs of our team and our community ahead of our desires as individuals."
Collin will join the Trojans for the 2017 season; this fall, Dave will work with the Trinity runners during meets and practices, and move into a more traditional assistant role the following year. Collin will regularly meet with student-athletes and handle recruiting responsibilities beginning this summer, as his wife Kathleen completes her degree later next year.
"Collin and Dave are great additions to our athletic staff," said Trinity Athletic Director Michael Gorsline. "These two men will really bring our cross country programs to the next level, while discipling our runners in their walk with Christ."
