Megan Blackburn joined the TIU athletic training staff as head athletic trainer in late September of 2021.

A native of Rockford, Illinois, Blackburn comes to Trinity following a year at nearby Lake Forest College where she served as an assistant athletic trainer. Blackburn graduated from TIU in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training before going on to intern with the men’s and women’s ice hockey and softball teams at Lake Forest. 

Megan also played on the women’s soccer team while at Trinity in 2013 and 2016, appearing in 28 matches with nine starts. In 2018, Blackburn joined the staff of the Chicago Red Stars of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), helping treat patients in the outpatient physical therapy setting of Illinois Bone and Joint Institute, providing rehabilitation services to a variety of patients, including those in their Phase IV program.

Outside of athletic training, Megan enjoys hiking, playing soccer, and spending time with her two dogs (Blizzard and Maya) and her husband Evan.
