TIU Women's Basketball suffer 93-58 loss to Central Methodist

FAYETTE, Mo. -- After picking up their first win of the season in exciting fashion, the Trinity International Trojans went cold on Saturday, shooting just 37.7% (23-of-61) from the field, in a 93-58 loss to the host Central Methodist Eagles, in the final game of the Eagles Classic. Senior DeAndra Wright led the Trojans with 20 points, as three players finished in double-figures in the game.
TIU (1-2) took an early 2-0 lead after Montanique Washington hit an early jumper to open up the game. The Eagles answered with five unanswered points, claiming the lead they would hold throughout the day. After Clarissa Woodard's three-pointer made it a one-point game at 10-9, CMU went on an 11-0 run, stretching out to a 12-point advantage. The Central Methodist lead would slowly grow throughout the first half, until both teams went into the break with the Eagles in front, 48-27. CMU outscored the Trojans 45-31 in the second half to claim the win.
The Trojans suffered from a 43-26 rebounding margin in favor of CMU, and were able to score just three second-chance points. Woodard led the team with six boards on the night, to go with her 14 points. Freshman Basha Ramsey collected ten points, while Washington scored eight, as the TIU starting five accounted for 56 of their team's 58 points on the day.
Trinity International will open up CCAC play next week, when they travel to Chicago and face St. Xavier on Wednesday, November 13. Tipoff against the Cougars is set for 7:00 p.m.
