DEERFIELD, Ill. -- Facing off against a Roosevelt side that was looking to move atop the CCAC standings, the Trinity International Trojans were under attack early in a 3-0 home loss to the Lakers, Saturday afternoon at Schartner Field.
Box Score | Season Stats | CCAC StandingsThe Trojans fell behind as Roosevelt struck for two goals in the opening four minutes, on their first two shots of the day. After the quick strike, the Trojans were able to recover and keep the Lakers off the scoreboard the rest of the first half. Roosevelt dominated possession, however, outshooting TIU 10-2 in the first period.
In the second half, Trinity were able to dictate more of the action, taking six of their eight shots on the day after the halftime break. The Lakers were still able to extend their lead, however, with their third goal in the 55th minute.
Leading the TIU offense was
Erik Yamane, who collected a match-high four shots, and three shots on goal. Goalkeeper
Sean Avila recorded five saves in the match.
With three matches remaining in the regular season, the Trojans will hit the road this Wednesday, when they travel to Arlington Heights to take on the Robert Morris Eagles. Kickoff at Morris Field is set for 6:00 p.m.
