Box Score | Season Stats | CCAC StandingsThe Trojans fell behind early in the opening set, but came back to tie the score at 6-6 on a
Marissa Boelter kill, and an IUSB attacking error. The Titans responded with an 11-4 run, however, to build an 17-10 advantage that they would hold the rest of the game.
Back-to-back kills from Stoller tied the second set at 5-5, but the Trojans had trouble getting the sideout, as IUSB rallied for four straight points, and led the rest of the way. Trinity had a late rally, consisting of a pair of Stoller kills, plus a kill from both Karljin Van Gaalen and Boelter, and a
Julie Gregornik service ace, but Indiana-South Bend was able to close out the set, 25-19.
Looking to stay alive in the match, the Trojans took an early 3-1 lead, and were in front as late as 7-6 after an IUSB service error. The Titans then put together a 12-3 run to move ahead by eight points at 18-10. A total of four attack errors from South Bend closed the gap for the Trojans, however, who responded with six of the next eight points to pull back to within two, at 19-17. IUSB pulled away down the stretch though, with five kills and a service ace during a 6-2 run to close out the match.
Gregornik and
Gabrielle LaMonaca led the Trojans with 11 digs on the day, extending LaMonaca's streak to 14 straight matches with double-digit digs.
Trinity will head north next week, as the Trojans will take on Cardinal Stritch in Milwaukee, on Wednesday, October 8. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
