Box Score | Season Stats | CCAC StandingsFor the second straight match, the Trojans found themselves trailing in the first half, as St. Francis put away the first goal of the match just before the halftime break, in the 44th minute. The Saints held TIU to just three shots in the first half, with only one shot on goal, and kept the Trojans from gaining any corner kick opportunies, while drawing three corners themselves.
The Trojans gained their momentum in the second half, however. Yasatan put away her CCAC-leading 27th goal of the season just five minutes into the half, assisted by
Melissa Loretto and
Morgan Elzinga.
As regulation winded down, the Trojans struck for two more goals to put the match away. Elzinga scored her 6th game-winning goal of the year, and 10th overall, in the 80th minute to give the Trojans a 2-1 edge. The junior then scored again just three minutes later, as Yasatan earned the assist on Elzinga's 11th goal of the season, capping off the 3-1 victory.
Elzinga led the Trojans with six shots taken on the day, as well as a team-high three shots on goal. Senior goalkeeper
Elizabeth Burzynski picked up the win, making two saves.
With the win, the Trojans clinch home field advantage in the first round of the upcoming CCAC Tournament, and can be seeded no worse than fourth for the conference tourney. Trinity wraps up the regular season this week, when they travel to Holy Cross on Tuesday, November 4. Kickoff against the Saints is set for 3:00 p.m. CST.
