Morgan Elzinga quickly found the equalizer, tying the match at 1-1 in the 15th minute, putting away the cross from sophomore Layla Zahnizer.
Zahnizer then set up the go-ahead goal in the 24th minute, passing to Yasatan in the box who found the back of the net for her school-record 28th goal of the season. The goal is also Yasatan's fourth game-winner of the year.
After setting up the first two goals, Zahnizer put away a score of her own, helping the Trojans to a 3-1 halftime lead with her third goal of the year in the 29th minute. The Trojans managed to outshoot the Saints by a 13-5 margin in the first half, eventually finishing with 19 shots on the day compared to Holy Cross' eight.
In the 76th minute, junior
Taylor Richards drew a foul inside the box, giving TIU a chance to extend their lead with the PK.
Kelsey Gill stepped up and slotted the ball past the keeper for her 11th win of the year. Yasatan finished with a match-high nine shots and four shots on goal, while
Melissa Loretto put up four shots in the win.
The second-place finish in the CCAC regular season marks the best result for Trinity International since the 2008 campaign, when the Trojans went 7-1-1 in league play to finish second. That season, TIU reached the CCAC Tournament final before falling in extra time to St. Xavier, then went on to place 4th at the NCCAA National Tournament.
