BOURBONNAIS, Ill. -- After taking the first lead of the night ten minutes in, the No. 24 Trinity International Trojans allowed a pair of penalty kicks, ultimately falling on the road to No. 13 Olivet Nazarene, in the championship match of the CCAC Tournament.
Melissa Loretto put the Trojans in front after her goal in the 11th minute, assisted by
Morgan Elzinga. In the closing minutes of the first half, however, Olivet's Sarah Lentini converted a penalty to tie the match at 1-1.
In the 50th minute, ONU was awarded a second penalty, as Liz Wahl scored to put the Tigers ahead 2-1. The Trojans, who fired a total of 16 shots on the night, including eight on goal, continued to look for the equalizer, but Olivet Nazarene managed to hold the majority of possession in the second half. ONU ended up out-shooting the Trojans, 21-16 in a winning effort.
Senior goalkeeper
Elizabeth Burzynski kept the Trojans in the game, making ten saves on the day, and did not allow a goal in the field of play.
