Quick Notes
• The Trinity International Trojans make their home debut in the newly-renovated Van Dixhorn Arena this week, TIU hosts the LaQuinta Classic on Friday and Saturday, November 7-8. The Trojans take on a pair of Crossroads League opponents in Grace (Ind.) on Friday, and Taylor (Ind.) on Saturday, with both matchups beginning at 8:00 p.m.
• The Trojans will go for their first win over both opponents in the past 11 seasons, as Grace and Taylor hold a combined 5-0 record over TIU since 2003-04.
• Trinity last met up with Grace in 2011-12, when the Lancers opened the season with a 94-57 win in Deerfield over the Trojans. TIU and Taylor faced off most recently in 2012-13, when Trinity suffered a 75-50 loss on the road.
• After the first week of the season, Trinity International ranks 3rd in the CCAC in scoring, with 81.0 points per game. The Trojans scored exactly 81 in both games last week, in a win over Clarke (Iowa), and a loss to Moun Mercy (Iowa).
• Senior center Nate Ball was named CCAC Player of the Week on Wednesday, after leading the Trojans with 16.0 points and 8.5 rebounds over two games at the Judson Classic.
• The Trojans were 5-25 last season, including a 3-16 mark in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference. The team's five wins were the lowest total since 2011-12, and the second-lowest in the past 11 seasons.
• Trinity returns 77.2% of its scoring output from last season, as the top four scorers from a year ago return for the 2014-15 season. TIU also brings back 63.2% of it's rebounding production from last year.
Series History with Grace & Taylor
• The Trojans and Lancers have met twice previously, dating back to 2003. Grace won both matchups, first in 2008-09, then again in 2011-12.
• The battle of Trojans has occured three times in that same timespan, with Taylor taking all three meetings.
Last Time Out vs. Grace
• Trinity and Grace last met on Oct. 29, 2011 in Deerfield, as the Lancers took a 94-57 win over the Trojans in the first game of the 2011-12 season.
• Three Trojans finished in double figures, led by Dillon Wadsack and Justin Peeples, who each finished with 11 points. Matt Heber tallied ten points in 31 minutes of action off the bench.
• Grace shot over 50% from the field (.508), as five players scored double figures, including Jacob Peattie, who finished with a game-high 21 points.
Last Time Out vs. Taylor
• TIU traveled to Upland, Ind. for the last matchup against Taylor, on Dec. 8, 2012, where Trinity suffered a 75-50 loss.
• Dillon Wadsack led TIU with 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting, while Daniel Metzelfeld added 11 points in 24 minutes on the floor.
• Taylor's Casey Coons finished with 27 points to lead all scorers, as Taylor shot 55.1% from the field as a team.
League Leaders
• As a team, the Trojans rank 3rd in the CCAC in scoring, with 81.0 points per game. On defense, TIU comes in 10th, and has given up 77.5 points per game to their opponents.
• Trinity leads the league in steals, averaging 10.5 per game last weekend, as the only team in the CCAC with ten or more per game.
• Through the opening weekend of action, senior center Nate Ball leads the CCAC in field goal percentage, shooting 81.3%, as well as blocks per game, at 2.5. He also sits 10th and 14th, respectively in each category on the NAIA national leaderboard.
• Three Trojans are among the top 16 scorers in the conference, with Nate Ball leading the way at 16.0 points per game (T-8th), along with Thomas Amrine (14.5 ppg; T-14th), and David Chatman (14.0 ppg; 16th)
• On the defensive end, Ball, Amrine, and Chatman all rank among the CCAC's top eight in steals. Ball is averaging a team-high 2.5 steals per game, good for 4th in the league, followed by Chatman's 2.0 (T-5th in CCAC), and Amrine's 1.5 (T-8th in CCAC).
Trojans in the Polls
• Trinity International has appeared in the NAIA Division II Coaches Poll 21 times in program history, but not since the 1997-98 campaign.
• TIU's last ranking came on Jan. 6, 1998, when the Trojans came in at No. 20.
• The highest ranking in program history was during the 1995-96 season, when Trinity was at No. 3 in the Jan. 22, 1996 poll.
