A pair of three-pointers from
Dillon Wadsack put TIU in front with 13:03 to play, 46-39. The Trojans then took their biggest lead of the day on a
David Chatman layup, 50-41 with 10:56 remaining. The Trojans held a comfortable lead for the next few minutes, but a pair of free throws from TCC's Jonathan Zandstra started a 9-2 run for the Trolls that put TCC in front 62-61. The Trojans would come back to tie the score three more times in the last 4:11, but untimely turnovers and missed shots meant TIU couldn't quite get back in front.
"We lost the game because we didn't play intelligent in big moments," said head coach Boomer Roberts after the tough loss. "Free throw box-outs and turnovers were our Achilles heel. Up nine, in control of the game, and we didn't play with poise. That's a recipe for a loss."
Wadsack contributed 14 points off the bench, as three Trojans finished in double figures. Chatman added in ten points, on 5-of-8 shooting.
The Trojans continue on their current five-game road trip next Wednesday, December 10, when they pay a visit to NCAA Division I Valparaiso (Ind.). Tipoff against the Crusaders, broadcast live online at ESPN3.com and WatchESPN.com, is set for 7:05 p.m.
