LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Taking a step out of conference play, the Trinity International Trojans fell to the Lake Forest Foresters, 25-17, 25-17, 25-15. Senior
Samantha Stoller finished the night with a team-high eight kills for the Trojans, who slip back to .500 with the loss, at 8-8, and are looking to work their way out of a four-match slide.

In the opening set,
Gabrielle LaMonaca gave her team an early lead with a rare kill, assisted by
Marissa Boelter. The Foresters answered with a 5-1 run, however, and would lead throughout the rest of the first set. A quick 4-0 run would bring the Trojans to within five points at 21-16, but LFC would score four of the next five points to close out the set.
Lake Forest would take a stronger lead in the second set, going out to a 5-1 early and stretching it into a 17-7 advantage, with all seven TIU points coming on various LFC errors. The Trojans would outscore the Foresters 9-4 over the middle portion of the game, with Stoller leading the way with three kills during the run, and again closing the margin to 21-16. Lake Forest would go on to take the second game with another 25-17 score.
The third set would see the Trojans fall behind early, by a 6-1 margin, then later by a 16-7 score.
Lexie Voss would record a team-high three kills in the set, as the Trojans would fall 25-15, despite hitting for a .062 attack percentage, their highest of the night.
Boelter finished with 20 assists on the team's 23 kills. LaMonaca again led the team in digs, with 12, while
Becca Kowalczuk collected 10 digs for her second double-digit performance of the year.
The Trojans return to CCAC action next Tuesday, when they travel to Elgin and face the Judson Eagles. Tipoff on September 30 is set for 7:00 p.m.
