CHICAGO, Ill. -- Freshman forward Abbey Bernas led the Trojans with a career-high 19 points, and matched her previous career best with eight rebounds, but Trinity International would suffer an 86-59 road loss to the Roosevelt Lakers on Saturday afternoon. Two Trojans finished in double figures, as Basha Ramsey posted 16 points in the loss.

The Trojan offense struggled in the opening minutes, committing three turnovers in their first three possessions as Roosevelt jumped out to a 9-0 lead over the first two minutes of play. Ramsey put her team on the board at the 17:08 mark with the first of her eight field goals on the day. Roosevelt extended their lead to 15 points after a three-pointer at the 12:29 mark, and would go up by as much as 28 in the first half. Trinity closed the half on an 8-1 run, to close the gap to 47-26 at the half.

Bernas and Ramsey scored the first two field goals of the second half, giving TIU a 12-1 run stretching between halves, and cutting the Laker advantage to 17, with 18:17 on the clock, 47-30. TIU would play Roosevelt even over the next five minutes, but a pair of field goals and a layup with around eight minutes to play would put the Lakers ahead by 24, keeping the Trojans from mounting a comeback.

Amari Parham led the Trojans with seven assists on the day. Bernas nearly had her first double-double, with eight rebounds along with her 19 points. The freshman also went a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line.

The Trojans head north to wrap up the current two-game road trip, when they travel to face No. 5 Cardinal Stritch in Milwaukee. Tipoff against the Wolves is set for Wednesday, February 4, at 5:30 p.m.
