DEERFIELD, Ill. - After dropping two close sets to start the night, Trinity International rallied to come from behind and defeat the Lake Forest Foresters, 22-25, 23-25, 25-15, 25-21, 15-7 on Tuesday night inside Van Dixhorn Arena.

Trinity played the Foresters (7-14) close in the opening two sets, as both sides traded the lead a combined 13 times despite the visitors coming away with a 2-0 lead. The Trojans held an 18-12 advantage in the first set before five straight points from Lake Forest made it a one-point game. A four-point run later in the set from the Foresters made it a 22-21 score, and even with
Alida Knudtson's set-tying kill at 22-22, LFC pulled away with a kill and two TIU attacking errors to take the first game.
The second game was as close as they come, as neither side built a two-point edge until Kowalczuk's ace at 8-6 extended the Trojans' lead. No team was ever ahead by three points the entire set, but the Foresters used a three-point rally at the end to steal the win; Trinity held a 23-22 advantage following a Forester attacking error, before a pair of kills helped LFC take a two-set lead in the match.
For as close as set two was, set three went in the Trojans' favor relatively quickly. An early 6-2 start for TIU highlighted by a pair of kills from Boelter and one from
Mickayla Staal gave the Trojans a lead they would hold the rest of the way. Midway through the set, an eight-point run that included two aces from Kowalczuk put the Trojans ahead 16-7 en route to the set win.
Another close one came in the fourth, as Lake Forest looked to avoid a decisive game and close out the match. Tied at 18-18, a kill from Staal and an LFC attack error put TIU ahead 20-18. Three straight for the Foresters put the visitors on top by a point, but Trinity rallied for five straight including kills from Boelter and
Alida Knudtson to force a fifth set.
The Trojans wasted no time once they got into the fifth. Five straight points to open the game highlighted an 8-1 lead early in the game. Three in a row for the Foresters cut into the lead at 8-4, but Trinity was able to side out until clinching the match with four straight at 11-7 to take the win.
Trinity return to Van Dixhorn Arena in just two days, when they re-enter CCAC play and host the Robert Morris Eagles. Tipoff on Thursday night, October 15, is set for 7:00 p.m.
