The Trojans (2-3, 0-1 CCAC) struggled on the boards, surrendering 19 offensive rebounds that resulted in 24 second-chance points for SXU. Turnovers plaged the home team as well, committing 33 on the night.

Trinity played a strong first period, led by Marlou Peters' four points in the opener. Falling behind by nine with 2:28 left in the first, TIU finished the quarter on a 5-1 run, cutting the St. Xavier (5-0, 1-0 CCAC) advantage down to 17-12.

The Cougars made a big run in the second quarter, outscoring TIU 19-8, including a 9-0 run in the closing minutes of the half. Nika Bracun's bucket closed out the quarter, as Trinity went into the locker room trailing 36-20.

The Trojans bounced back in the third, scoring the first five points during a 9-2 run to start the second half, cutting the deficit down to single digits with 6:01 left in the period. St. Xavier responded, building as much as a 20-point lead at the 2:15 mark, but Trinity finished the third on a 10-3 run, including six straight points to close the quarter from Surina Falvo.

A layup from Woods and a pair of free throws from Falvo made it a ten-point game with 9:28 to play, but a pair of three-pointers from the Cougars suddenly made it a 62-46 advantage for the visitors. The Cougars would pull away down the stretch, closing the door on a potential comeback run for Trinity.

Bracun finished in double figures, picking up 10 points, while freshman forward Parris Bryant nearly picked up a double-double with nine points and nine boards.

The Trojans are back in action Saturday, when they hit the road to take on Holy Cross. Tipoff against the Saints is scheduled for Saturday, November 21st at 12:00 p.m. Central.
