Grant Corsi posted a career-high 22 points, but a two-game win streak was snapped Saturday night, as Trinity International were unable to overcome an eight-point halftime deficit, falling to San Diego Christian 87-79 in the second day of the Vanguard University Thanksgiving Classic.

Zach Kirschbaum opened the game with a pair of buckets at the 18:15 mark, giving TIU a 4-3 edge. After
Luke Mead's three-pointer with 16:55 to play in the first half, the Hawks (4-1) responded with a 14-3 run over the next four and a half minutes, to take an 18-8 lead that would hold the rest of the night.
San Diego Christian would go up by as much as 18 points at the 6:35 mark of the first half, before Trinity closed out the half on a 15-5 run, capped off with back-to-back three-pointers from
Thomas Amrine and
Henry French to finish the first half. The Trojans trailed 43-35 going into the break, led by Kirschbaum's 11 points on 5-of-7 first-half shooting.
The Hawks opened the second half with six straight points to reclaim a double-digit advantage. TIU would pull all the way back to within two points with 11:13 to play on Corsi's three-pointer, but another quick run from San Diego would keep the Trojans from moving in front.
"This was a great trip for our young men," said TIU head coach
Boomer Roberts. "It is never fun when you lose, but we have a great group that loves challenges. We respond really well when we need to, we just need to start every game with that urgency."
Three other Trojans along with Corsi finished in double figures, as French tallied 14 points to lead all scorers coming off the bench. Kirschbaum finished with 13 points, while Mead collected 12.
The Trojans return home on Wednesday, when they host the Roosevelt Lakers. Tipoff when the Lakers visit Van Dixhorn Arena is set for 7:30 p.m.
