CHICAGO, Ill. - Sophomore hitters
Alida Knudtson and
Mickayla Staal led Trinity International with a team-high six kills apiece, but the host Roosevelt Lakers would hit for over a .300 average to defeat the Trojans in straight sets, 25-14, 25-15, 25-19, on Tuesday night.
Box Score | Season StatsThe Trojans (3-20, 2-16 CCAC) held early leads in the second and third games, but the Lakers would respond with long rallies to take control of each set. In game two, a kill from Knudtson gave TIU a 6-5 edge, but a 5-1 run for Roosevelt (12-16, 8-10 CCAC) would put the Lakers ahead by a 10-7 margin. A pair of RU errors pulled Trinity to within a point, before Roosevelt pulled away with 12 of the next 14 points.
Trinity came out strong in the third game, trying to keep the match alive with a 7-2 run to start the set. Roosevelt moved in front again, scoring 14 of the next 17 to go up 16-10 en route to the third-set win.

The Trojans return home to Van Dixhorn Arena this Thursday night, when they take on Judson in the final match of the season. Tipoff against the Eagles is set for 7:00 p.m.
