BOURBONNAIS, Ill. -- Trinity International held a lead late in game one, and tied the game in the ninth inning of game two, but were unable to come away with a win, as the Olivet Nazarene Tigers took the doubleheader sweep over the Trojans, 6-4 in game one, and 4-3 in game two.

A.J. Bruner made the start in game one, pitching four innings and allowing just three hits and one earned run. Bruner also picked up the game's first RBI, hitting a sacrifice fly to center field in the top of the 2nd, scoring
Colt Foerch to give the Trojans a 1-0 lead.
The Tigers tied the game in the bottom half of the inning, beore Trinity reclaimed the lead in the 3rd. Freshman
Edward Piotrowski led the inning off with a single up the middle, then
Jeff Lindberg walked to batters later. After Jon Grotelueschen reached first on a dropped third strike to load the bases,
Adam Vignola gave TIU a 3-1 lead with a 2-RBI single.

Evan Athanasiou to score. Olivet Nazarene got the run back in the bottom of the fourth, with a one-out double to center, scoring one to make it a 4-2 Trojan lead.
Ryan Helmeid came in to relieve Bruner in the 5th, retiring the side in order. ONU rallied for four runs in the bottom of the 6th, however, to move ahead 6-4 and secure the win in the first game of the day.
In game two, Trinity would tie the game in the 3rd and 9th innings, but weren't able to grab the lead. Jon Grotelueschen put the Trojans on the board with a leadoff hit in the 3rd, before advancing to second on a sac bunt, third on an error by the ONU pitcher, then home on a passed ball. Olivet would score two runs in the 7th to take a 3-1 lead that they would hold until the final frame.
In their last chance at the plate, Vignola,
Andrew Grotelueschen, and Foerch all reached base before the first out of the inning. Josh Crist then tied the game with a groundout to first, allowing both Athanasiou and Grotelueschen to come around and score.
In the bottom of the 9th, however, ONU responded with a leadoff single to the shortstop, then drew a walk and hit a bunt single to load the bases with no outs. A base hit to center field would drive home the winning run in the next at-bat.
Andrew Grotelueschen finished the second game with the best plate performance of the day, going 3-for-4 with a run scored. Six pitchers saw action in game two, including
Austin Galley and
Jeremiah Carter, who both came out of the bullpen to throw two innings without giving up a hit.
Daniel Wawrzyniak pitched one and a third innings with just one hit allowed.
The Trojans will wrap up the current four-game road trip on Wednesday, March 25, when they travel to Trinity Christian for a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m.
