Bats quiet as Trojans swept by Wolves

WHEELING, Ill. -- Playing in their home-away-from-home for the second time this season, Trinity International managed four hits against one of the top pitching staffs in the NAIA, suffering a pair of conference losses to the Cardinal Stritch Wolves, 20-0 and 12-1 respectively, at Heritage Park on Monday afternoon.

Box Scores: Game 1 | Game 2

The Trojans were shut out in the opener, after Cardinal Stritch jumped out to a five-run first inning to take a commanding early lead. Trinity's best chance to get on the board came in the bottom of the 3rd, when first baseman Danielle Donorovich led the inning off by cranking a double to left. CSU's Tori Burke then struck out the next two batters, and forced a groundout to third to end the threat. The Wolves then piled on 11 runs in the top of the 4th to put the game away.

Cardinal Stritch again took a lead in the top of the 1st in game two, scoring a pair of runs on their way to 12 unanswered by the 5th inning. The Trojans got on the board in their last trip to the plate, using a two-out rally to score their lone run of the day. Freshman Emily Doomis' single through the right side of the infield set the table for her twin sister Alyssa, who hit an RBI single two batters later.

Trinity will be back at it again tomorrow from Heritage Park in Wheeling, when they play host to the Olivet Nazarene Tigers. First pitch is set for 3:00 p.m.
