WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- Trinity International matched their season high with five runs, but a few big innings from Northwood (Mich.) dealt the Trojans a pair of non-conference losses Saturday afternoon, as TIU fell to the Timberwolves in both ends of a doubleheader, 23-1 in game one, and 10-5 in game two.

Colt Foerch and junior
Evan Athanasiou fueled the offense in the opener, going a combined 3-for-6 with a run scored, and collecting all three Trojan hits in the game.
In game two, freshman
Edward Piotrowski went 3-for-3 to lead the Trinity attack, driving in one RBI.
Andrew Grotelueschen and
A.J. Bruner each collected two hits in their first appearances of the season.
TIU took an early lead in the top of the 2nd, when Grotelueschen's leadoff single eventually set the table for
Joshua Crist to drive in the first run of the game with a base hit to right. Northwood tied the score in the bottom half of the inning, after a throwing error brought home NU's Dustin Lee.
Northwood then scored five runs in the third inning, including four unearned, to take a 6-1 advantage. Trinity answered with a run in both the fourth and fifth innings, after Bruner and Crist led the frames off with a double and triple, respectively. The Timberwolves put the game away however, with one run in the fifth, and three more in the bottom of the sixth to get the 10-5 final margin.
Trinity will take a day off before continuing the Florida swing on Monday, when the Trojans face St. Ambrose (Iowa) in a doubleheader beginning at 11:00 a.m. Central.
