ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. - Trinity International's four-match winning streak was snapped Saturday night, after the host Robert Morris Eagles defeated the Trojans by using a three-goal rally in the second half in the CCAC opener.
Box Score | Season StatsTrinity (4-2, 0-1 CCAC) played the Eagles to a scoreless first half, despite RMU outshooting the Trojans by a 13-5 margin, and taking eight corner kicks to TIU's one. The Eagles (3-3, 1-0 CCAC) continued to control the tempo of the match after the halftime break, breaking through in the 53rd minute with the first goal of the night.
Five minutes later, RMU took a two-goal lead by scoring off the rebound of a saved shot seconds earlier. In the 77th minute, Robert Morris closed out the match with their third goal with a shot from the center of the box.
Freshman
Jared Yonke finished with eight saves on the night, but suffers his first loss of the season, falling to 4-1 on the year. Four Trojans recorded a shot on goal, while
Zach Reget and
Zack Cemail led the team with two shots overall.
The Trojans are back in action next Tuesday, when they continue CCAC play and host St. Xavier. Kickoff against the Cougars is set for 4:00 p.m.
