Box Score | Season Stats

The Trojans (1-1) jumped on the Cardinals (0-4) with three goals in a five-minute window of the first half. Trinity got on the scoreboard for the first time in the 21st minute, when freshman Zach Cemail put away a penalty kick after a foul in the box. The first goal from the run of play came just two minutes later, when freshman winger Jordan Dejno found the back of the net to give the Trojans a 2-0 advantage. A third goal came from senior Brett Robinson, who connected with Dejno and Krystain Streit, earning assists on the play, for the score.

Trinity outshot the Cardinals by a 21-3 margin in the first half, and continued to hold possession after the break. Tyler Cake got on the board with his first career goal in the 54th minute, assisted by Robinson and Aric Whipple

Concordia played the final stretch with ten men, after a second yellow card was dealt out in the 62nd minute to a Cardinal midfielder. Concordia was given five yellow cards in the match overall, with one yellow given out to the Trojans.

Two more late goals came after the Trojans were playing up a man. Erik Yamane's shot in the 73rd minute deflected off a Concordia defender and went in for an own goal. Andrew Pierce then finished off the scoring with a strike from the top of the box in the 85th minute.

The six goals scored was the highest offensive output for the Trojans since last season's 16-0 win over a nine-man Iowa Wesleyan squad, and the first over a team at full strength since a 6-1 home win over St. Francis on Oct. 16, 2009.

Redshirt freshman Jared Yonke, making his first career start at keeper, made four saves on the day and earns his first shutout as a Trojan.

Trinity will head to Mequon, Wisc., to take on the Concordia (Wisc.) Falcons in their first road match of the season. Kickoff against the Falcons is set for this Monday, September 7, at 3:30 p.m.
