DEERFIELD, Ill. - Junior
Alida Knudtson led Trinity International with 10 kills, but for the fifth straight conference match the Trojans fell in four sets, this time to the Judson Eagles 25-15, 21-25, 25-20, 25-18.

A slow start put the Trojans (7-16, 1-5 CCAC) behind early, as the team hit for an .036 percentage with eight kills and seven errors. Tied 6-6, Judson (9-13, 4-2 CCAC) scored the next four points, including a pair of blocks to move in front 10-6. Trinity would be unable to put together a rally the rest of the way as Judson jumped out to an opening-set win.
The best set of the night game in the second for TIU, as kills from
Ashlyn Spay and
Kayla Jacks helped give the Trojans a lead they would hold thoughout most of the set. The Eagles would tie the match at 12-12 before Knudtson,
Gabby Miller, and
Mickayla Staal would combine for kills during a 4-1 run, and later an ace from Spay would extend the lead to 22-16. Judson would pull to within three put an attack error on set point would even the score at 1-1 on the night.
The Eagles responded in set three, jumping out to a 12-4 advantage in a game they would lead wire-to-wire. Trinity climbed back into the game with a 6-2 run, as
Taylor Weinberger's ace set the score to 14-10. A block from Staal followed by two Judson errors closed the gap further at 16-14, but the Eagles then scored five of the next six points to reclaim a six-point edge, 22-16, and go on to win game three.
Judson would again take an early lead in the fourth game, going ahead 9-5 on a run of three straight points. Back-to-back kills from Miller would start a 6-2 rally for the Trojans, tying the match at 11-11. Trinity would move in front after two straight Judson errors, and kills from Jacks and
Lexie Voss put TIU in front 16-15. The Eagles would follow up with three straight points and close out the match with seven of the final eight points to clinch the four-set win.

Becca Kowalczuk led the back row with 17 digs on the night, while Voss and Knudston picked up two blocks apiece. Freshman setters
Piper Thompson and Jacks finished with 16 and 14 assists, respectively.
The Trojans will now prepare for the first of two CCAC Crossover tournaments, beginning this Friday, October 7. Trinity will face Olivet Nazarene, Indiana-South Bend, and Governors State, and will take on the host Tigers in the first match beginning at 2:00 p.m.
