BOURBONNAIS, Ill. - Lexie Voss posted a season-high 11 kills as Trinity International finished the first of two CCAC Crossovers on Saturday morning, with a 25-22, 25-16, 25-23 straight-set victory over the Governors State Jaguars.

Playing in two tight sets to earn the win, Trinity (8-18, 2-7 CCAC) were behind 19-16 in the opener before four straight points gave them the lead, highlighted by a kill from
Gabby Miller and an
Ashlyn Spay ace. Governors State (7-10, 1-8 CCAC) twice tied the score, but Voss' kill would set up game point at 24-22, and Spay would give the Trojans a 1-0 lead in the match with a kill at 25-22.
Down 6-2 to start the second set, the Trojans reclaimed the lead with nine straight points, as part of an 18-3 run that doubled up the Jaguars' 21-10. Voss led the offense in the 25-16 win, recording five kills in the set.
Governors State looked to stay alive in the third set, and led 19-17 after a Trojan attacking error. Trinity again used a big rally, scoring six straight as the set came down to the wire to claim a 23-19 edge. The Jaguars scored three straight before an error gave TIU match point at 24-22, then Voss closed out the Crossover with a kill at 25-23.
Setter
Kayla Jacks recorded 22 assists in the win, while also picking up seven kills and seven digs.
Becca Kowalczuk led the back line with a team-high 13 digs.
Trinity International returns to Van Dixhorn Arena on Tuesday, October 11, when they host Clarke (Iowa) in non-conference play beginning at 6:00 p.m.
