DEERFIELD, Ill. - Senior
Lexie Voss finished with a team-high seven kills and hit for a .308 average in her final home match, but the Roosevelt Lakers spoiled senior night for Trinity International, as the Trojans fell in straight sets 25-21, 25-22, 25-23, Tuesday night inside Van Dixhorn Arena.

Voss, along with fellow seniors
Alida Knudtson and
Marissa Boelter were honored before the match; Boelter finished the night with five digs along the back line, while Knudtson collected five kills and four total blocks, including two solos.
The Trojans (10-26, 4-14 CCAC) held a lead early in the first set, and went up by a 17-12 score following a four-point rally highlighted by a kill and service ace from
Ashlyn Spay. Trinity would lead by as much as 20-14 after
Kayla Jacks' kill, but Roosevelt (16-18, 8-10 CCAC) closed the set on an 11-2 run to take the opener.
Roosevelt took control in game two, jumping out to a 13-9 advantage and forcing an early Trojan timeout. Back-to-back kills from
Gabby Miller and a solo block from
Mickayla Staal pulled TIU to within three, at 17-14, but Roosevelt would score five of the next six to make it a 22-15 margin. Trinity rallied to score seven points down the stretch, but were unable to come back in time.
Working to stay alive and force a fourth set, Trinity pulled to within one point after a Laker attack error at 15-14. Both sides then sided out on 12 straight points, as TIU was unable to pull even until a kill from Spay and another RU error evened the score at 21-21. Roosevelt then used a pair of kills as part of a quick three-point rally to force match point, and despite Knudtson's kill at 24-22 and another attacking error, would close out the match at 25-23.
Spay matched Voss for the team lead in kills, with seven. Freshman
Kayla Jacks, splitting time as the Trojan setter, finished with 17 assists. Junior libero
Becca Kowalczuk collected 10 digs to lead the defense.
The Trojans wrap up the 2016 regular season on the road Thursday night, when they take on the Judson Eagles. First serve from Elgin is set for 7:00 p.m.
